About the Event
We are beyond excited to be taking part in the Juneteenth Parade and Festival presented by Taking Back Muskegon Inc. This event holds significant historical importance as it commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19th, marks the day in 1865 when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, to announce that the Civil War had ended and that all enslaved individuals were now free, despite the Emancipation Proclamation having been issued two years earlier.
Participating in this vibrant celebration not only allows us to honor the struggles and triumphs of those who fought for freedom and equality, but it also provides an opportunity to engage with our community in meaningful ways. The festival will feature a variety of activities, including live music, dance performances, art exhibitions, and delicious food vendor.
We are particularly looking forward to the parade, which is a highlight…
